Explore Our Programs at CHEC
Counseling (MED) Student Affairs Emphasis
Gain employment in the university setting through our student affairs track. A master’s degree in counseling provides the foundation needed to interact with college students on a daily basis.
Counseling (MS) Clinical Mental Health Counseling Emphasis
Our CACREP-accredited clinical mental health counseling track prepares you to serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. You’ll serve clientele with different mental, emotional and behavioral difficulties as well as couples counseling.
Counseling (MS) School Counseling Emphasis
Our school counseling track prepares you to provide guidance and counseling to students of all ages. You must hold a valid teaching certificate and two years of full-time teaching experience to qualify for this program. When you graduate, you’ll be certified as a Professional School Counselor.
Counselor Education and Supervision (PHD)
The doctoral program in counselor education and supervision includes 69-72 hours of coursework in the classroom and online. This includes field experience, advanced courses, research tools and finally, a dissertation.
Curriculum and Instruction (MED/MS)
This degree involves 18 hours of study in the major and 18 hours of electives which allows students to take additional courses in the major, focus on an area of interest, or qualify to teach high school dual credit classes or at the community college level.
Early Childhood Education (BS)
The major in early childhood education prepares graduates for careers in both public and private educational settings in which the primary focus is young children.
Education (BA/BS) Bilingual – Grade EC-6
Develop an in-depth understanding of multicultural learning environments with our interdisciplinary studies bachelor’s degree program. If you seek to become a bilingual teacher, who provides instruction in both Spanish and English, this program requires Spanish literacy. If you seek to become a bilingual teacher, who provides instruction in English, you do not need foreign language literacy.

Education (BA/BS) Middle School Emphasis (Grade 4-8)
Our bachelor’s degree with middle school certification offers a number of specialties, allowing you to concentrate on specific interests. Learn to design engaging lessons, develop curriculum for all students and foster a welcoming learning environment.
Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS)
The bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies prepares students for employment in a wide variety of settings in the fitness industry, in the sports and allied health field, rehabilitation clinics, sports teams, and more. The Human Performance track is designed to prepare individuals for graduate school (e.g. kinesiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy).
Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS) Allied Health Emphasis
The bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and sports studies with an emphasis in allied health provides you a background in kinesiology that prepares you for an allied health graduate program. Take prerequisite courses for allied health programs such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training and other allied health professions. Select support courses based on the prerequisites for specific professional school programs.

Kinesiology and Sports Studies (BS) Strength and Conditioning Emphasis
The strength and conditioning concentration at East Texas A&M helps you become a skilled performance coach by combining hands-on experience with a deep understanding of sports science. You’ll prepare for advanced certifications and gain the tools to succeed as a strength and conditioning coach and optimize your clients’ performance and outcomes.
Psychology (BS)
The Bachelor of Science in psychology explores human behavior and cognition. This major trains students for a variety of careers such as government and non-profit organizations. Students are prepared to pursue graduate study in psychology and for careers in psychology-related fields.
Sport and Recreation Management (BS)
Sport and recreation management is designed to prepare future administrators, event coordinators and marketers for a career in the sport and recreation industry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I park at the CHEC?
Parking is available in any non-reserved parking spaces in the 5-level parking garage (to the east of the building) or parking lots (to the east and south of the building) during business hours. You do not need a parking sticker.
Where is the Collin Higher Education Center?
The Collin Higher Education Center is located on the northeast corner of the State Highway 121 and 75 Central Expressway intersection behind the Sheraton Hotel in McKinney.

How do I apply for dual enrollment with Collin College and East Texas A&M at the Collin Higher Education Center?
You must complete the Dual Admissions Agreement form and submit your official transcripts to the East Texas A&M Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

How do I apply for Financial Aid at East Texas A&M as a dual enrollment student?
To be eligible for Financial Aid at East Texas A&M, you must complete the Consortium Agreement form. East Texas A&M serves as your “home” college while Collin College serves as the “host” college.
How to apply for financial aid:
- Complete part one of the Consortium Form
- Submit Consortium Form to an academic advisor/faculty member for completion of part two
- Submit Consortium Form to East Texas A&M Financial Aid office for completion of part three
- Submit Consortium Form to Collin College for completion of part four
- Send official academic transcripts from Collin College to ETAMU
Note: For the Spring 2020 semester, you must submit the consortium agreement by April 8, 2020. Transcripts must be submitted by June 8, 2020.
